| Dark Lunacy are a "Dramatic Death Metal" band from Parma (Italy). Their genre is the result of different musical conceptions, all of them oriented towards gothic-decadent atmospheres, fast rhythms and melodic openings with lyrics that mix anger with poetry. Outstanding plus of the band is the use of string quartets and full symphonic choirs bringing in a higher standard of musicianship. In November 2000, Dark Lunacy released their first official album "Devoid", the cd gathered critical acclaim and put the band in an international perspective almost right away. Only a few months later in February 2001 the album could also reach the Japanese market through Avalon/Marquee and Europe was fully covered through a distribution agreement using Metal Blade channels. "Devoid" had an unexpected impact in South America especially in Mexico. After touring extensively, in June 2003 DL had almost all lined up to record the second coming "Forget-Me-Not", eleven new songs of pure Dramatic Death Metal filled with pathos, rage and melody. The album lived up to expectations and opened doors to a South American tour that peaked in Mexico City where the band played a sold out show . Once back, they embarked on an Italian tour supporting Dark Tranquillity, things couldn't get any better. The single and video "Through the non time" started spinning on MTV and other music channels...and in June 2004, the band played the famous "Gods Of Metal" with Judas Priest, Rage, Anathema, Nevermore. Time to stop for a while and start writing some new convincing material and almost a year goes by. In 2005, Dark Lunacy had the chance to test their new songs on stage at the "Evolution Festival" with Nightwish, Sebastian Bach, Dark Tranquillity... it all felt just right and the recording process followed shortly after. The band entered "Frozen Sound Studio" in Parma to lay down tracks for the new upcoming album. In order to move on up even further, Enomys and Mike decided to fly over to Gothenburg, Sweden and mix everything at the "Fredmann Studio" with producer Frederik Nordstrom (Dimmu Borgir, Hammerfall , At The Gates, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity). The result is breathtaking, great sounding, powerful and clean. In 2006 "The Diarist " came to light. A concept on the siege of Leningrad during the Second World War, 900 days of death, destruction and hope. Lyrics are basically taken off a diary written in those bloody days and each song adopted to it with no political references but with a full historical portrait where deep feelings of hope arise from the contest . | |
