| Mind Key started in early 1999 thanks to founding members Dario De Cicco (keyboards) and Emanuele Colella (guitars), who decided to create a band with the precise task to melt the sound of prog-metal sounds of Symphony X, Dream Theater, Planet X, Royal Hunt with a newer, mature and more song oriented approach. The initial line-up was completed by Eduardo Schipani on drums. After the first year spent writing and performing, in September '99 Francesco Mormile (bass) and Marco Basile (vocals) completed the lineup, with Andrea Stipa taking finally his place behind the drumkit. With this line-up the band started to have a regular presence in the club-scene of Napoli - their hometown - performing in extremely tight and successful live shows. At the same time the guys recorded 4 songs which became their first demo entitled "Welcome to Another Reality" (July 2000), which was very well received by the national specialized press (reviews on Metal Shock, Flash, Metal Hammer). In may 2001 the last line-up change happened, when Francesco left the band with Lele Castaldo (ex Virgin of Graces) joining on bass. The band was then picked up by Frontiers Records for the production of the debut cd "Journey Of A Rough Diamond". Mind Key delivers a great sound which encompasses many styles from progressive metal to hard rock. A new hard-rock / progressive metal sensation is finally ready to strike !!! | |
