Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut album "Out Of The Silence", DARE led by ex-Thin Lizzy man Darren Wharton quickly established themselves as a bright new force on the British rock scene. Their strong melodic songs and powerful anthem-like sound which was created by the band and engineer/producer Mike Shipley also known for his work with Def Leppard. The band was soon thrilling audiences across Europe with live performances alongside such legendary artists as Jimmy Page, Europe and Gary Moore. After numerous headline tours and three much acclaimed singles, Dare gained worldwide recognition with chart success in countries as far reaching as Japan and Australia. With a strong cult following behind them and the taste for success, it was time to return to the studio. Back in Los Angeles, this time with producer Keith Olsen (famed for his work with Whitesnake, The Scorpions and Rick Springfield) work began on their second offering for A&M Records, "Blood From A Stone". While this album introdiuced a harder edge to Dare's music, it maintained the quality of songs for which they become reknowned, and managed to widen the band's appeal still further. After 8 years of hassle, band member changes and other political problems, Darren Wharton and his band are back again with the much awaited release of "Calm Before The Storm". A stunning release which features all of the things that made DARE a world class rock act in the first place; soaring melodies, powerful epic-like songs and seamless arrangements produced by Darren Wharton himself and mixed by Simon Hanhart. Along with Wharton , the album introduces a new young guitarist - Andy Moore and Wharton's new songwriting compadre Richard Dews , and the rhythm section of Julien Gardner on drums and bass player Martin Wilding. With powerful melodies and haunting atmospheres, this is undoubtedly their finest and most exciting work to date, and with Europe and Japan primed and ready to face the next Dare assault, its clear that "Calm Before The Storm" makes a more than appropriate title for their MTM Records debut. The new release has already charted in Scandinavia which shows that the band hasn't been forgotten and the sales are increasing all through Europe and in Japan. DARE is back and it won't take another 8 years for the next album to see the light. |
