| GRAND PRIX started out as PARIS back in 1978. Keyboarder Phil Lanzon and singer Benrie Shaw, who later joined URIAH HEEP, were the founding members. After signing with RCA in 1978 they changed their name to GRAND PRIX and their selftitled debut got released in 1980. It was one of the first real Pomp AOR albums from an European band - this genre had been dominated by the American bands, With great tracks like Thinking Of You GRAND PRIX started quite a buzz and released two more albums incl. the mega classic Samuari. When Bernie Shaw returned from the wedding of his sister Oktober 1981 he found out he was replaced by Robin Mc Auley, which sang on both following albums ! | |
