| With Angra, Shaman or under his own flag: Brazilian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andre Matos keeps himself true to the bone even regarding his musically direction. So again his new album is – musically wise – oscillating between melodic progressive metal in the style of early Fates Warning, Iron -Maiden/Judas Priest influenced True Metal as well as classical quotes without and end (even orchestrated piano arrangements are his specialities). The result is an album, which continues the style of “Fireworks” (1998), the last Angra album with Matos’ input, and which is much more melodic and powerful than ever. So we will find on “Mentalize” even a loads of Headbanger’s hymns with full-power-double-bass-arrangements as well as outraging guitar licks, but also a loads of melodies.
