Just like the stage show of (almost) the same name, Phantom’s Opera have a great following. The people that have been involved with this band are too numerous to list, but include such greats as Alec Jon Such (Bon Jovi), Tico Torres (Bon Jovi, Franke & The KO’s), Dean Fasano (Prophet, Message) and Karl Cochran (Ace Frehley, Arcara). The debut by Phantom’s Opera appeared on the Long Island label in 1995 and received overwhelming critical acclaim, which started worldwide exports and led to a deal in Japan. The show had begun... Escape Music Signed the band in early 1997 and on 1st April of that year released the second album “So Long To Broadway” (ESM 013). As the title suggests, the music had stage show references, which made Phantom’s Opera a unique experience to the listener. The best description would be Classic rock wrapped up with excitement and dramatic content of a stage show. Well arranged bands like Styx and Queen are quickly brought to mind, and like these two bands Phantom’s Opera could meld together soft and hard rock with extraordinary ease. However, the fans of the debut album felt that the second album lacked the balls of their earlier work and that there were not enough rock tracks…..so the third outing in 1998, "Following Dreams" (ESM 031), was a very aggressive album, with epic tracks like “Land of the Damned” and “Play my Guitar”. The band had shown leanings toward Progressive metal, though retaining their unique trademark. The curtain is set to rise once again and Phantom’s Opera have to show the world what they have behind that mask of mystery. The first thing to be unveiled is the new vocalist Terry Brock (Strangeways, Sign, Solo). This will appeal to many new listeners as Terry is a firm favourite in rock circles. Previous vocalist Colie Brice had a unique voice and the band knew that a replacement would be difficult, but Terry has had no problem adapting to the part. His vocal range is second to none and every word is crystal clear and well suited to the intricacies of this unique band.
