| In 1980 four guys from Stange,
Norway got together and formed the band Polish. They were rehearsing
in a barn and people walking by might have thought the band was
rehearsing to compete in a championship for chainsaws. Later, they would all find out that this band had became one of Norway's best selling rock bands of all time. In 1983, they changed their name from Polish to RETURN. Knut Erik Østgård - vocals, Steinar Hagen - guitar, Tore Larsen - bass and Øyvind Håkonsen - drums, had started the enormous success as one of Norway's most selling rock bands. Their big breakthrough came with their single "Sheila" in 1985, which sold 1,000 copies and made RETURN the winner of "Norwegian Champions of Rock" that year. In 1987 they released their first album "To the Top", which sold around 25,000 copies, which was very good at that time. The same year, they released the single "Sing Me A Song", debuting with a 7th place on "Norsktoppen" and stayed on that hit-list for over a year. In 1993, after six years of constant playing and having released six albums, the band wanted to take a break from music. They said, they wanted to find the same feeling for music they had in 1985... But the break turned out to be longer than the fans had hoped it would be. About 8 years later, the band came back and released the album "The Best of Return". This album sold almost 70,000 copies and the band went out on the road again to celebrate their fans with a mini-tour. With many sold-out shows and screaming fans all over Norway, RETURN had found the feeling of 80's rock again and the fans just loved it. In return for a long success story, the band released the album "Return Live" - a concert recorded at Hamar Mart'n - in the year 2000. They did this because they wanted the fans to remember how Return's songs sounded, when they were travelling around Norway and played in the local areas. But RETURN will never give up music... They will be back, no matter what... Now, it's 2005 and RETURN are still out, playing for the fans. In these days, they are recording some songs for a new studio album...which is finally done! The brand new album is entitled "Return" and follows the way to the roots of a phenomenal band which has been playing for 15 years now! |
