Weapon-X was formed in September 1997 by Vinnie Guarniere (Guitar), Eric Setreus (Drums) and Max Lopez (Bass). As a trio, they jammed and rehearsed for a year. Luca Petracca joined the band on vocals in August 1998 and over the next 18 months they recorded the 3 song demo “Ready” and their self-recorded/self-produced demo CD, “Weapon-X”. In February 2000 Martin O’Brien took over as the vocalist and frontman of Weapon-X. Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Martin’s soulful and powerful vocal style truly completed the band’s line-up. Character, chemistry and diversity are Weapon-X’s strong points. All members are seasoned musicians with their own distinctive styles, which synergistically complement the others in the band dynamic. Their style has been best termed as “Rock Metal” featuring powerful, driving riffs and melodic, soulful vocals in the vein of bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Queensryche. Definitely not a “one trick pony”, Weapon-X has the ability to play softly and soulfully as well as crushingly heavy and everything in between, always with feel and passion. Now with the release of the new Weapon-X CD “Behind These Walls”, the band is ready to show the world what they are made of. The cd was recorded and produced by N.S. “Buck” Brundage and mixed by Phil Magnotti. Buck is an accomplished guitar sound guru (inventor of the Powerplant pre amp) and producer who has worked with the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Al Dimeola, Steve Morse and Fates Warning to name a few. During the course of 2001 Weapon-X has opened for national acts including Quiet Riot, Savatage, Fate’s Warning, WASP, Ratt, Sebastian Bach, and Dokken.
