In the later part of 1997, the band RAINMAKER was formed by current members BEN POWELL and NICK HORNE. After sending a 3 track demo CD to various record companies, an UK based label showed interest in the band. In May 1998, RAINMAKER headlined the PHOENIX RISING FESTIVAL in Manchester. This would be the last appearance they would make with SIMON SAXBY as lead vocalist. RAINMAKER found themselves without a vocalist and so decided to look for a replacement. DAVID LINDLAND and RENNIE XOSA (Ex-MONTANA SCREAMS) were looking for a new band. Their label suggested to team up with the remaining members of RAINMAKER. This resulted in DAVID LINDLAND and RENNIE XOSA flying over to England to rehearse with BEN POWELL and NICK HORNE. All the members immediately hit it off and decided to carry on as band. After leaving the UK based label, the band signed to MTM MUSIC and KING RECORDS (Japan) in March 1999. Now that the band had a new home, they decided that a new name was also in order - "RAINE". A year later, RAINE was in New York City, laying down tracks for their debut CD, including the unreleased STEVE PERRY tune "Lost Angels". The debut CD "Peace" features a number of guest musicians including, violinist MARK WOOD (CELINE DION) who plays on two tracks and keyboard player CASEY SMITH of DANGER DANGER fame.
