PANIK are a brand new Modern Melodic Hard Rock band from Ontario, Canada offering a splendid sound somewhere right in the middle between sounds from the genre’s leading artists such as NICKELBACK, AUDIOSLAVE, MATCHBOX 20 and SEVEN AND THE SUN. The young four-piece Canadian outfit is centred on charismatic front man and multi-instrumentalist Rick Legacy who on this album handles vocals and guitars but also has learned how to play guitar, piano and bass. The story of PANIK begun 13 years ago when Rick and guitarist Ang Cimino were taking contests with both their previous bands in a ‘battle of the bands’ competition. Ang’s band was good but his guitar playing was really great! Rick’s band won the contest by the way – and Ang’s band finished 2nd. The two guys met at the event and the rest became history. Drummer Brian Hamilton started as a soundman for the band many years ago and became their permanent drummer through the years whereas bassist Mark Piraino is a new guy in PANIK. Rick and him though had played in the same band before – even at different times. Rick, being the main song-writer in the band, brings in a great variety of influences into PANIK’s own sound which includes bands from different styles and various eras including LED ZEPPELIN, AC/DC, DEEP PURPLE, SOUNDGARDEN, SEVEN DUST, SUPERTRAMP and JUDAS PRIEST – which you can listen to at the beautiful, rocky cover of their song “Another Thing Coming”. Tracks like the opener and ear-catcher “Crush”, the modern orientated “Friends” and the relaxed semi-ballad “Gear Girl” belong to the highlights on “A Page Torn”. The CD was produced by Corey McFadyen (THE LADDER/ Steve Overland, BRIGHTON ROCK & milesABOVE). PANIK’s debut album will to appeal to every rock fan out there that likes sharp, modern riffs and catchy melodies!
