Nashville’s Royal Court of China (formerly known as the Enemy) play it hot and sloppy on their independent-label debut, a vivacious seven-song mini-album released in 1986. This led to a contract with A&M Records and the release of their selftitled album in 1987, but with Robert Logue and Oscar Rice’s penchant for a folkier sound, the album tended more towards R.E.M. in style. Both left the band after poor sales of the album and the founding members Chris Mekow and Joe Blanton changed the style of the follow up album “Geared And Prime” (1989) under the guidance of producer Vic Maile (Motörhead, Victory) to a much harder edged sound. Digitally remastered re-issue from Bad Reputation records.
